Consultative Meeting of Civil Society Organizations on the Development of the New UN Convention on the Rights of Older Persons Held on June 18

On June 18, a consultative meeting titled “Developing the New UN Convention on the Rights of Older Persons: A Dialogue Among Civil Society Organizations” was held.

The meeting brought together representatives from civil society organizations of Australia, the Republic of Korea, and Mongolia, as well as older persons’ organizations, university professors and lecturers, and private sector actors implementing age-friendly programs.

During the consultation, participants shared their knowledge and experiences to foster collaboration among Mongolian civil society organizations in support of the adoption of the proposed international convention on the rights of older persons. The discussion also helped define future steps toward effective engagement in upcoming negotiations.

The consultative meeting was organized as a preparatory event ahead of the Asia-Pacific Forum on Active Ageing: Creating an Age-Friendly Society, jointly hosted by Amnesty International Mongolia, the Center for Human Rights and Development (CHRD), the Mongolian Human Rights Forum, and the MONFEMNET National Network, with support from the Mongolian Women's Fund and the Global Alliance for the Rights of Older People (GAROP).
